Shimogo in Aizu, Fukushima This video, titled "Shimogo Promotion Video" (下郷町プロモーションビデオ), was uploaded by "ShimogoKanko." Shimogo is located in the center of Fukushima in Japan's Tohoku region. The area was known as Aizu until the Edo period (1603-1868) and it's a sightseeing spot with many charms. In Shimosato, there's a mountain in the direction of the rising sun where the gods are said to rest. You'll also find Kannon-numa Forest Park at the foot of the mountain, which can be seen from 2:39 in the video. You can enjoy the natural scenery of the four seasons nurtured by the harsh climate of Aizu, and in fall, the area around the swamp is decorated with the colorful, beautiful autumn foliage. This article will provide information on recommended sightseeing destinations in Shimogo, where the blessings of Japan's rich natural environment, scenery, history, and culture are intertwined, alongside the video. A Tour That Connects the Past and Present Photo:Ouchi-juku in autumn, Shimogo, Fukushima The history of Aizu was a series of turbulent events that were swallowed up by the swell of Japan's modernization. It's said that after the Meiji Restoration, the Aizu clansmen were forced to move to an undeveloped area called Nakatsuma, where they established Minami Aizu. The traditions such as the Hange Festival and Ouchijuku Snow Festival shown from 3:18 in the video, were handed down from their ancestors. Shimogo is a town where ancient Japanese culture and traditions remain and where the present meets the past. Fukushima is best visited during winter as the snowfall in the region creates beautiful landscapes. There is an event called "Mizuki-no-hana-dango" (みずきの花団子) during Little New Year. It is an event to pray for health and longevity and colorful dumplings are stuck into the branches of trees that haven’t yet sprouted. This is a unique Japanese custom in Aizu to enjoy the long winter. This can be seen from 3:33 in the video. Sightseeing Information for Shimogo Photo:Shimogo, Fukushima, To-no-Hetsuri The beautiful scenery of the nature-rich town of Shimogo has always amazed the tourists who come to see it. To-no-Hetsuri, a marvelous landscape created by the Aga River (阿賀川, Agagawa), is a photogenic spot that you don't want to overlook when sightseeing in Aizu. Also, the buckwheat fields of Sarugaku Plateau is a place where Aizu clansmen lived through the turbulent times of Japan from the end of the Edo period to the Showa period. These can be seen at 2:12 in the video. The Aizu Line is a popular line with direct access to the Tokyo metropolitan area and is full of peaceful views. From 2:07 in the video, you can see mountain cherries in Toaka, and at 3:51the Nakayama Snow, Moon, and Fire Festival, where igloos and lights decorate a snowy Aizu. There are many popular sightseeing spots in Shimogo, Fukushima, including a snowshoe experience which is filled with the wisdom of Fukushima's ancestors who have lived through the harsh winters. The Food Culture of Shimogo, Fukushima Photo:Minamiaizu's local cuisine, Shingoro The Aga River, a quiet, clear stream flowing through Shimogo, is an important river that nurtures abundant life and is necessary for preserving the local culinary culture of Aizu. Upstream, there are many hot spring hotels and inns where you can enjoy a steamy atmosphere. You can relax at hot springs such as Yunokami Onsen after a long day of sightseeing. Fukushima is also famous for rice production. Shingoro is a local delicacy of Shimogo. It's made by rolling up a special type of rice, sticking it on a skewer, coating it with Junen (a kind of egoma) miso, and grilling it over charcoal. At the roadside station and Shimogo Town Local Products Center, you can find a different kinds of souvenirs of local food, such as soba noodles and local sake. Summary of Shimogo, Fukushima Photo:Shimogo, Fukushima The spirits and thoughts of the Aizu clansmen who lived through the turbulent times in Japanese history can still be found in Shimogo. The ancient traditions are kept alive by the people who love their town. The Shingo Furusato Festival, Shingoro, and Hana-dango during Little New Year are designed to heal the hearts of tourists, and to keep the healing alive, they will be passed on to the future. Tourist Information for the Winter Months in Tsubetsu, Hokkaido The tourism promotional video produced by the Tsubetsu's tourism board, "Welcome to Winter in Tsubetsu!"(いらっしゃい津別!冬(津別町観光PRビデオ)), captures the beauty of the wild winter wonderland at its best. Tsubetsu is adjacent to Akan Mashu National Park located in the east inland of Hokkaido prefecture. Tsubetsu Outlook is a popular viewpoint overlooking Kussharo Lake during the summer months, but the road leading to the outlook is closed in winter. However, there are some unique attractions in Tsubetsu during the winter. Displayed in the video is a fantastic snow-covered world of minus 20 degree weather with frost-covered trees and wild animals - The harsh beauty of the Wild North. How to Enjoy Tsubetsu's Magnificent Winter Wonderland Source :YouTube screenshot Tsubetsu is an hour drive from Memanbetsu Airport in Abashiri, and the city has no local train. About 80% of its total municipal area is covered by forest, surrounding tourists with the vast landscape as soon as they arrive. You may be wondering if there's anything to see there other than the silvery white plains during the bitter winter, but that same landscape is what makes the visit so worth your time! The trees in the forest are covered with ice, and when the weather is nice they sparkle, creating a fantastic scene of glittering lights. Popular winter activities in Tsubetsu include ice skating at the Tsubetsu Elementary School grounds or smelt fishing at Chimikeppu Lake. You can see smelt fishing at 1:30 in the video. Catching and cooking your very own smelt is a great way to enjoy the cold weather. The subtitle that appears at 1:42 says how "The mountain has become an amusement park," and that's exactly what we see! This amusement park offers a wide range of enjoyable experiences, such as eating fresh snow with condensed milk poured on it. Dining in Tsubetsu Source :YouTube screenshot After spending some time in the magnificent snowscape, viewers are taken to Michi no Eki Aioi (Roadside Station Aioi) that sells healthy snacks using local vegetables. This can be seen at 2:02 in the video. We recommend Kumayaki; it's a snack you can't find anywhere else. Kumayaki is a type of Japanese confection with bear-shaped patties (Kuma means bear in Japanese) and a sweet red bean filling using local flour and locally grown adzuki beans. There are four types of bear-shaped dorayaki (similar to Kumayaki) made of Hokkaido wheat and azuki beans, which are popular in Japan. Local gourmet delicacies such as Tsubetsu Wagyu steak, a brand of beef from Tsubetsu, Hokkaido, which is said to be a rare Japanese wagyu beef, and extra-large kakiage soba noodles made with local vegetables are also worth trying. And there is of course the renowned local dish of Hokkaido, Genghis Khan (a Japanese BBQ mutton dish), which is served at some restaurants in Tsubetsu. Tourist Information for Tsubetsu Source :YouTube screenshot Lamp no Yado Mori Tsubetsu Hotel is a hotel that features an outdoor hot spring bath where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the snow. In summer, tourists come from all over Japan to tour the spectacular sea of clouds from Tsubetsu Pass to Lake Kussharo. "Non-no no Mori Nature Center" is a rare park in Japan that has been scientifically recognized as a "forest therapy base" for its healing properties. The forest therapy guided tour or a walk on the hiking trail through the snow-covered forest will help you get reacquainted with nature. Summary of Tsubetsu, Hokkaido The natural beauty of Tsubetsu instills wanderlust in those who see it. You get a sense that even in this harsh winter wonderland you can enjoy a fantastic experience in the great outdoors. The harshness is exactly what makes it so beautiful. Many festivals and events are lined up in Tsubetsu all throughout the year, such as the ceremony to open the Tsubetsu pass, the "Primrose Festival," "Tsubetsu Summer Festival," the "Tsubetsu Tanabata Festival" in July, the "Bon Dance Festival" in mid-August, and the "Tsubetsu Local Festival." We recommended visiting Tsubetsu to see the events. The detailed information of events and festivals is published on the city's official website. The specialties of Tsubetsu include the traditional wooden crafts and Japanese black beef "Ryu-sui Gyu," which make great souvenirs. Iheya Island - A Tropical Travel Destination in Okinawa!
Local PR Travel Nature- 238 plays

This Introductory Video of Iheya Island, Okinawa, Shows the Incredibly Beautiful, Dreamlike Scenery of the Island This introductory video, "The Mystic 'Iheya Island'" (神秘の島「伊平屋島」) was produced by the Iheya Island Tourist Association using aerial drone footage. You'll see the incredibly beautiful scenery of the isolated Iheya Island, in Okinawa. Iheya Island is a remote island with breathtakingly clear, pristine waters and nature. It is even famous in Okinawa, one of Japan's most popular tourist resorts. In this article, you'll find recommendations for places to see and things to do around Iheya Island, Okinawa. The video shows aerial photos of the emerald green coral reefs and the natural mountains of Iheya Island in Okinawa. You'll be astonished watching the video and realizing that such beauty exists in Japan. All About Iheya Island, Okinawa Photo:Iheya Island's sandy beach and sea Iheya Island is located 117 km north of Naha on the main island of Okinawa, a part of Japan's southwestern archipelago. It is also north of the main island of Okinawa, 41.1 km from Nakijinson Kamiunten harbor, a ferry depot in the northernmost inhabited island of Okinawa. At southern end of Iheya Island, there is Izena Island. Iheya Island is a mysterious island where the original landscape of Okinawa has been preserved, and many legends and gods continue to live on. Iheya Island (Area: 20.66km2 Perimeter: 34.23km) is a long, thin island connected to Noho Island (Area: 1.06km2 Perimeter: 4.8km) by the Noho bridge and as of July, 2009, has a population of 1,405. To get to Iheya Island, you can take a bus or car from Naha Airport on the main island of Okinawa to Unten Port in Nakijin Village where the ferry dock is located. An 80-minute ride on the ferry takes you to Iheya Island. As there are only two ferry services a day, and a day trip is difficult, we recommend spending at least one night on Iheya Island. Local transportation is either rental cars, taxis, the island's community bus, or rental bicycles, as well as the ferry that takes you to Iheya Island. It's also possible to bring your own car onto the ferry as well. If the weather is good, we recommend renting a bicycle to see the island and enjoy the natural scenery. Touristic Information to Enjoy Iheya's Beautiful Emerald Green Sea Photo:Sea turtle The brilliant emerald-green sea shown in the video is so beautiful that you might feel like you're dreaming. The sea is transparent up to 50 meters and the view of a small boat casting its shadow on the seafloor is fantastic. You can see this amazing scenery from 1:12 in the video. The sea of Iheya Island is comparably beautiful to that of popular Yaeyama Island and Miyako Island. In these beautiful waters, you can enjoy coral reefs, marine life, snorkeling, diving, sea kayaking and other marine sports, as well as fishing to your heart's content. The beaches which are worth visiting on Iheya Island are ‘Kumaya beach’ for fishing, and ‘Suga-hama’ and ‘Yonesaki-kaigan’ for enjoying beautiful scenery. Because there are only two ferries a day and no large tourist facilities, there are very few tourists in Okinawa, so you can enjoy the sea to your heart's content, as it is a lesser-known beach in Okinawa. White sandy beaches with endless blue skies and seas await you. Enjoy the Sights and Sounds of Iheya Island Photo:Hiramatsu Starting at 1:31 in the video, the sights of Iheya Island, with its unspoiled nature and culture, are introduced. One of the must-see spots is “Kumaya Cave” which is said to be the southernmost place related to a legend about Amaterasu Omikami. Japan has a lot of places where the “Amano Iwato legend” allegedly took place. The natural light that floods the cave is so magical and Instagram-worthy. It's also a popular power spot not to be missed when visiting Iheya Island. At 1:46 in the video, “Nento hiramatsu” is also a popular touristic spot on Iheya Island and visitors will be overwhelmed when they see the branches of the “Ryukyu matsu” looming over them. We also recommend visiting the Iheya Lighthouse from which you can overlook the whole of Iheya Island. This can be seen in the video from 1:51. You can enjoy a spectacular view of nature with 200-meter-high mountains and blue waters. There are also plenty of other places with beautiful scenery as well. From 1:58 on the video, “Yahe Rock” is a historical place and said to be the ruins of an old castle that protected the island from the Nakijin army. The sunset seen through the rocky mountains quite the spectacle as well. If you're looking for something good to eat, be sure to try the fresh seafood dishes on Iheya Island. As it's surrounded by the sea, it has some of the freshest seafood you can get! After a day of fishing, a seaside BBQ with the fish you caught will make for an unforgettable experience. Mozuku seaweed and local sea salt from Iheya Island make for great souvenirs as well. Other Tourist Attractions at Iheya Island There are even more tourist destinations on Iheya Island that weren't shown in the video! “Kuba mountain at Tana”, “Tiger head Rock”, “Yagurabaka”, “Iheya History and Folklore Museum” and “Kami asagi” are also places we recommend visiting. If you prefer joining activities or events, "Iheya Village Trail," "Iheya Moonlight marathon," "Iheya Festival," "Iheya Scarecrow Festival," and “Iheya New Year Trim Marathon” are some things that might interest you. Of course, there are also hotels and inns on Iheya Island, so you can stay overnight for sightseeing. Wrap-Up Photo: Iheya Island from a plane The video, "The Mystic 'Iheya Island'" (神秘の島「伊平屋島」), introduces the beautiful, clear sea and the splendid natural scenery of Iheya Island, one of Japan’s remote islands. Sometimes the waves are so calm, and you can see the seafloor so clearly, that it's as if there's no water at all. Be sure to check this out in the video! In this article, we introduced you to Iheya Island's attractions, marine activities, and food, as well as how to access it. There are also agriculture and fishing experiences, as well as home-stay accommodations where you can interact with the islanders and experience Japan's original landscape and nature. Take a trip to the remote Iheya Island, forget about your troubles, and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. 【Tripadvisor】Iheya Island https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g1121620-d1373491-Reviews-Iheyajima_Island-Iheya_son_Shimajiri_gun_Okinawa_Prefecture.html -

What is Mt. Nokogiri? This video, titled "'Breathtaking views at Nokogiri mountain known as saw-tooth mountain' Promotion movie【2017】," was directed by Chiba Prefectural Government. It introduces Mt. Nokogiri (鋸山, Nokogiriyama). Mt. Nokogiri, sitting on the border between Kyonan Town (鋸南町, Kyonanmachi) and Futtsu City (富津市, Futtsushi) in Chiba Prefecture, gets its name from its saw-like spiky ridge-lines. A breathtaking panorama opens itself up to you from the 329-meter-tall peaks. Photo:Mt. Nokogiri If you’re lucky with weather, you can enjoy Mt. Fuji (富士山, Fujisan), Mt. Amagi (天城山, Amagiyama) and Oshima (大島, Oshima) on the Pacific, in a single sight. The nearby "Three Great Mountains of Awa" (安房三名山, Awasanmeizan), Mt. Tomi-san, Mt. Gotemba (御殿場山, Gotembasan), and Mt. Iyo (伊予ヶ岳, Iyogatake), are a sight to behold. Immerse yourself in the pre-experience of hiking & mountaineering by watching the video! Enjoy the Beautiful Scenery of Mt. Nokogiri While Hiking The main attraction of Mt. Nokogiri is hiking & mountaineering. Mt. Nokogiri Nihon Temple (鋸山日本寺, Nokogiriyamanihonji), located on Mt. Nokogiri, is the oldest imperial temple in Kanto, founded through an order given by the emperor roughly 1,300 years ago. Within its vast realm, one of its routes contains various tourist attractions such as the biggest stone-made Buddha in Japan, Sengohyaku Rakan, and the “View of Hell.” A relatively small mountain, at just 329 meters, you can casually enjoy hiking & mountaineering with a route that takes you to the peak within a couple of hours. Some routes are unpaved, and it's recommended that you climb with clothes that are easy to move in with suitable hiking shoes on. Mt. Nokogiri is a part of "Kanto Fureai Trail" (関東ふれあいの道, Kanto Fureai no Michi) a long natural hiking-course passing through the 7 Prefectures in Kanto. The course is 1,799 km long, and lets you indulge in the beauty of nature around Kanto, connecting Mt. Takao (高尾山, Takaosan), Okutama, Chichibu, Mt. Tsukuba (筑波山, Tsukubasan), Kujukuri Beach (九十九里浜, Kujukurihama), Boso, Miura Peninsula (三浦半島, Miurahanto) and Tanzawa. Source :YouTube screenshot A spot you cannot miss in Mt. Nokogiri is Hyakushaku-Kannon (Buddha), the guardian of safe travels. The Kannon, at 30.3 meters tall, was carved out of stone over a 6 year period. You can watch this from 1:16 in the video. Sengohyaku Rakan is the most prominent sacred place dedicated to Rakan, in the world, replete with Buddha sculptures carved by the most eminent sculptors of the Edo period. You can watch this from 0:56 in the video. There are more than 1,500 stone Buddhas, none of which have the same expression. In the Buddha plaza sits the tallest Buddha in Japan, towering at a height of 31.05 meters. He welcomes numerous visitors with his 6.5 meter face and 608 hair spirals. Photo:Mt. Nokogiri Observatory The main attraction of the course is the Peak Observatory. The observatory is on the outcropped rock sticking out of the cliff and is known as the “View of Hell.” If you're brave enough, take a peek down from this thrilling observatory. The video introduces this from 1:52. Even just seeing it in the video is a powerful experience. The mountain is also popular for watching sunsets and sunrises. The Ropeway Makes Mt. Nokogiri Accessible to All! The ropeway provides a good alternative to cars to reach the peak. Enjoy a leisurely 4 minute ride on the ropeway to Mt. Nokogiri. The video shows the view from the ropeway at 0:18. Take home the beauty of the colorful autumn leaves through the lifelong memories you'll make here. Summary of Mt. Nokogiri A series of works titled ‘Fuji Sanjurokkei,’ developed during the Edo period by Ukiyoe artist Hiroshige Utagawa, depicts the lively mountain with the title ‘Awa Nokogiriyama’. This suggests that Mt. Nokogiri was a sacred property, worshipped locally in ancient times. The Kyonan, Futtsu, and Fuppo area, in which Mt. Nokogiri sits, is known as a port city along the Tokyo Bay, and restaurants provide cuisine with fresh fish. Mt. Nokogiri is not only a site of beautiful landscape, but also an indispensable tourist attraction in Chiba where you can enjoy its history, art, the local cuisine and hot springs. The video introduces many of the tourist attractions along the hiking course of Mt. Nokogiri, as well as information on photogenic sights perfect for your Instagram. Itoman city was the site of many battles during World War II, and therefore is well known for battle memorial sites such as Okinawa Peace Memorial Park (沖縄県平和祈念公園, Okinawaken heiwa kinen kouen) and Himeyuri Memorial Tower (ひめゆりの塔, Himeyurinotou). Itoman city is also famous as a fishing village, with many fishing traditions being passed down for generations. Itoman is an area dotted with sugar cane fields and beaches with beautiful views of the ocean. Charming villages covered with red tile roofed houses typical of Okinawa add to the beautiful scenery here. Popular Tourist Experiences in Itoman City Photo:Underwater In the opening scene of this video we're introduced to Ryukyu Glass Village's (琉球ガラス村, Ryuukyuu garasu mura) glass blowing experience. You can see this at 0:15 in the video. Ryukyu glassware is famous for it's characteristic air bubbles and thick, beautifully colored glass. Glass-blowing is a traditional Japanese craft by which you can create truly one of a kind glassware. At Ryukyu Glass Village you can also watch the craftsmen at work or purchase a variety of colorful glassware from the shop. Next, we'd like to introduce the glass boat tours. You can see these at 0:52 in the video. The glass boats have a glass floor which allows you to take a peek down at the sea floor below. The Shisa (lion dog) hariko is very typical of Okinawa. Okinawan traditional fishing boat/Sabani sail boat experiences are also very popular. Sabini are fishing boats used in the Tempuku Bare competition which is part of the biggest event held in Itoman city, the Itoman Hare. Tempuku Bare is a competition where as a team you attempt to flip over your overturned Sabani boat and row it to the finish line. It is used as a test of the village fishermens' boat skills, but don't worry, as a tourist you won't have to flip over any Sabani boats during your experience! Rowing your own Sabani with the cool wind brushing against your face is an exhilarating experience! You can see this at 2:15 in the video. This video is titled "[4K Ultra HD] Monet's Pond - The pond, such as Monet paintings (Shot on RED EPIC)([ 4K Ultra HD ] モネの池 The pond, such as Monet paintings (Shot on RED EPIC))". Many of you may be surprised by the beauty of it. This video introduces Monet's pond, a popular tourist destination in Seki (関市, Seki shi), Gifu Prefecture, in Japan's Tokai Region. The beautiful spring in Gifu Prefecture is said to be visited by many tourists from both Tokyo and Osaka. It can be enjoyed in the video and images in this article. A variety of colorful water lilies can be seen in the spring, including yellow water lilies and more in just a 3-minute video. What Is Monet's Pond? Photo:Gold carp Monet's pond is an officially unnamed pond about the size of a tennis court, formed from the spring water around Nemichi Shrine (根道神社, Nemichi jinja) in the mountains. It was popularized through TV programs and word of mouth as the real life version of "Water Lilies" by the famous French painter Claude Monet. The beautiful Monet's Pond, has colored carp (錦鯉, Nishikigoi) swimming through its transparent waters and is great for taking Instagram photos. There are koi whose head patterns look like heart symbols in the pond, as well as gold carp for good luck. The History of Monet's Pond In 1999, the nearby flower seedling producers weeded and some carp were brought in by locals. It's purpose was not sightseeing, so it was mere chance that such natural beauty came to be. Golden Week in 2016 even attracted 3,000 tourists per day! Highlights and Recommended Seasons for Visiting Monet's Pond Photo:Monet's Pond The best time to visit Monet's Pond to experience its full beauty is during the fall when you can enjoy the magnificent view of the autumn leaves reflecting off the pond's surface. This can be seen from 1:10 in the video. We also recommend going in early May when the spring greenery is fresh or in the winter to see the beautiful snowscape. As the appearance will change considerably depending on the weather, we recommend avoiding rainy days and going at night. Access to Monet's pond is about 35 minutes from the Mino IC on the Tokai Hokuriku Expressway. You can also go to Gifu Prefecture through a sightseeing bus tour around Monet's pond and other surrounding areas. Sightseeing at Monet's Pond Photo:Grilled sweetfish Around Monet's Pond you'll find shops selling the famous "chimaki" (a dumpling wrapped in bamboo leaf), so be sure to give it a try if you get the chance! We also recommend trying the specialty eel or sweetfish (ayu cuisine) lunch in Seki. -
